History
Prism Gas Systems (Prism) was founded in January 2000 in association with a financial partner. Prism’s goal is to create value for its customers through the installation, acquisition and efficient operation of natural gas gathering and processing facilities. Prism concentrates on assets and areas that provide opportunities for integration, consolidation and improved operational efficiencies through focus and attention to detail. Prism’s primary geographic areas of operation are Central and East Texas, Northwest Louisiana, and the Texas Gulf Coast.
In January 2001 Prism Gas Systems acquired a fifty percent non-operated interest in the Matagorda Gathering System located in state waters and Matagorda County Texas. In December 2001, Prism and its partner acquired an onshore pipeline that extended the Matagorda System and gave access to new markets
On March 1, 2001 Prism purchased McLeod Gas Gathering and Processing Company L.L.C. The acquired assets are located in East Texas and Northwest Louisiana and include the McLeod gathering system and the Mooringsport gathering system.
On November 28, 2001, Prism closed on the acquisition of a partnership interest in Waskom Gas Processing Company and became operator of the Waskom gas plant in January 2002. The Waskom Plant is a 285 MMcf/d gas plant in East Texas with full fractionation facilities and premium NGL markets. In June 2003 Prism connected the McLeod System to the Waskom Plant and began processing the McLeod gas at the Waskom Plant. The Waskom Plant is currently being expanded to 320 MMcdf/d.
On February 1, 2004, Prism acquired a fifty percent non-operated interest in the Fishhook gathering system. This system gathers from the shallow water Gulf of Mexico near Port Arthur off Jefferson County, TX and redelivers this gas into NGPL.
On November 10, 2005 Martin Midstream Partners, L.P. acquired Prism Gas Systems I, L.P. to enhance its existing operations and provide immediate entry into the growing East Texas and Northwest Louisiana energy production base.
On May 2, 2007 Prism, as a subsidiary of Martin, acquired all of the outstanding stock of Woodlawn Pipeline Company, Inc. a natural gas gathering and processing company with integrated gathering and processing assets in East Texas. In conjunction with this transaction, Prism also completed its acquisition of a residue gas pipeline.
Currently, Prism’s assets include approximately 615 miles of gathering and transmission lines and a fifty percent partnership interest in a 285 million cubic feet per day gas processing plant with full fractionation capabilities up to 14,500 barrels per day.
